The pilgrimage of Umrah and Hajj is a spiritual moment eagerly awaited by Muslims around the world. As the host of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia faces unique health challenges due to the large number of participants and environmental conditions. These challenges are compounded by the gathering of millions of pilgrims from various countries at the same time, which increases the risk of infectious disease transmission. Therefore, vaccination is a very important preventive measure to protect the health of pilgrims and prevent the spread of disease globally.
The Indonesian government emphasizes the obligation to vaccinate all pilgrims against meningitis and polio prior to traveling to Saudi Arabia. After receiving the vaccinations, pilgrims will be given an International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV), also known as the Yellow Book, or an Electronic International Certificate of Vaccination (E-ICV), as proof of vaccination for overseas travel.
